South East Student Conference
Jordan Draper and Nick Corrado, UCF Civil Engineering majors, participated in the American Society of Civil Engineers Southeast Student Conference, which the UCF and Florida Tech ASCE student chapters co-hosted this year. They are shown competing in the Steel Bridge Building event near Bright House Networks Stadium. Other events included the Concrete Canoe Competition, which involved a display at Memory Mall, a swamp test and races held at Turkey Lake Park.
In the high strength concrete cylinder competition, UCF's Rebecca Lucas placed third. UCF's team of Jamison Edwards and Vito Trupiano placed second in the balsa tower competition. The UCF chapter placed fifth overall out of 25 participating schools from Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, Alabama, Puerto Rico and China.
