The Department of Theatre is going to present a play – PENTECOST – next academic year.

PENTECOST is a play of politics and ideas set within the context of a post-Communist Eastern Europe. It challenges our ideas of ethnicity, religion, nationalism and attitudes toward art, by asking the ‘big question’ – What if what we know as ‘the Renaissance’ took place 100 years earlier, and elsewhere?

The play is set to run January 25 through February 4, 2018on Theatre UCF‘s Mainstage. The play involves not only an unusual amount of dialect work from the directors and cast, but also brief periods speaking in the language of their diverse cast of characters.

TIME COMMITMENT: If you are fluent in any of the languages above, we will accommodate your availability as much as possible. Ideally, you will meet with our voice/speech coach and actors for an hour or two, you will read short sections of our script, and we will record your session. Possible chance of a second session. All of this we would like to take place during the months of August and September, into early October.

Those assisting with this project will receive a complimentary ticket to the production.

If you are interested in contributing to this multi-cultural production, please send via email to Pentecostsmteam@gmail.com :
your name,
UCF department (major/affiliation),
class year or years with UCF,
which region/language you are from/fluent or familiar with,
and what schedule conflicts you may have.

We will process the volunteers during the summer, and contact you early in the fall.
Thanks for your consideration, and we hope to be working with you soon.
