Morgridge Student Success Foundation financial hardship awards
Jan 26, 2017 to Jun 30, 2017
The Morgridge Family Foundation has generously given LEAD Scholars Academy a $4000 Student Support Foundation (SSF) grant to fund UCF students with financial hardship.
Students who have a scholarly, community or personal financial need can apply for up to $200 in funding here: http://lsa.sdes.ucf.edu/ssf. Only students with financial need are eligible to receive funding. UCF faculty and staff can also apply on behalf of a student.
Examples of financial need may include funding needed for books, graduation materials, conference travel costs, food, rent, service learning background check fees, alternative break trip deposits, etc.
Applications will be reviewed on a weekly basis by the UCF Student Support Foundation board (with all identifying information redacted) and these students will make decisions on grant applications based on the mission of the SSF and student need. The student board will have oversight from LEAD Scholars Academy staff. Student Financial Assistance will then disburse funds to approved student applicants directly from the SSF account.
The SSF board exists to enrich the campus community through student-facilitated philanthropic support in order to promote the development and participation of UCF students in becoming global citizens and responsible leaders. SSF serves to also introduce student leaders to the goals of philanthropy work and working collectively to provide opportunities for the campus community at large.
