Audience: Alumni, Faculty, Staff, Students

Keywords: book drive, community

Each year the United Way Campaign Team at UCF hosts a book drive to support the Heart of Florida United Way summer literacy initiatives.

Books should be new condition, age-appropriate “pleasure reading” books. The books will go home with youth; the more interesting the book, the more likely it will be opened and read. We’re hoping to focus on books for middle and high school level students.

Please collect books in your departments and turn them in to Millican Hall 384 by close of business on May 31st.

Summer reading loss is a serious problem contributing to a significant grade achievement gap. A lack of available reading materials for at-risk youth is a major factor. Summer literacy initiatives across the region are working to address this issue. We value the educational well-being of our community, and we can help by supporting the United Way’s book drive!
