It is on each of us to take the personal precautions necessary to protect our campus community. Part of this includes wearing a face mask. Learn more where, when and how to wear your face covering, as well as about picking up or purchasing UCF masks.
Take the first step by pledging to Armor Up and helping prevent the spread of COVID-19.
Where to Wear Your Face Covering
Wear your face covering pretty much anywhere you go on UCF’s campus. There are a few exceptions, but for the most part, you must Armor Up whenever you’re on campus. Check out the COVID-19 Return to Campus Policy for additional details.
When you need to wear a face mask:
All indoor common spaces (classrooms, common work or living spaces, meeting rooms, etc.)
All enclosed spaces with other people present (UCF shuttles, campus vehicles, etc.)
Outdoors
At basketball games in Addition Financial Arena
When you don’t need to wear a face mask:
In a personal office (or single room) with the door closed and others are not around
Exercising in private quarters or outdoors with physical distance
Eating and drinking while you’re stationary and maintaining physical distance
How to Wear Your Face Covering
Wear Your Face Covering Correctly
- Wash your hands before putting on your face covering
- Put it over your nose and mouth and secure it under your chin
- Try to fit it snugly against the sides of your face
- Make sure you can breathe easily
- Don’t put the covering around your neck or up on your forehead
- Don’t touch the face covering, and, if you do, wash your hands
Take Off Your Face Covering Carefully
- Untie the strings behind your head or stretch the ear loops
- Handle only by the ear loops or ties
- Fold outside corners together
- When you are home, place covering in the washing machine
- While you are eating, place covering with the outside part face down on a napkin or paper on your table.
- Be careful not to touch your eyes, nose, and mouth when removing and wash hands immediately after removing.
Face Covering
Conversations
See someone on campus not wearing a face covering? Here are simple steps on how you can help.
- 1 Remind them that face coverings are required at UCF.
- 2 Direct them to a nearby face covering distribution location.
- 3 Request that they leave the area, or leave the area yourself if you feel at risk.
Distribution Locations
Face coverings are being distributed at several locations on UCF’s campuses. While in-person distribution will pause during winter break, face coverings are available in campus vending machines, with other locations reopening January 4. If you’re a UCF student or employee, you’ll get one free, reusable face covering with a valid UCF ID card while supplies last. Those who were on campus in Fall 2020 may pick up one additional face covering this spring.
Forgot your face covering or want an additional one? You can purchase them through many of our vending machines stocked with face coverings listed below. The UCF-branded cloth masks are available for $5, and disposable masks are also available for $2.

Get Your UCF Face MaskTypes of Face Masks
Not sure what type of face mask you should be wearing? We’ve got you covered.
Check to make sure you’re wearing the right mask:
Cloth covering that’s at least two layers and fit snuggling to your face (it must not be open at or under your chin — bandannas and other loosely tied scarves are not appropriate)
Is secured with ties or ear loops
Allows for breathing without restriction
Is able to be laundered
At this time, based on guidance from health authorities, neck gaiters, open-chin triangle bandanas, and face coverings containing valves, mesh material or holes of any kind are not acceptable face coverings. While masks with one-way valves may make it easier for you to breathe, it also releases unfiltered air when you breathe out — not preventing you from spreading the virus.
