\"UnionWest<\/p>\n

Students interested in living at UCF Downtown and Valencia College Downtown now have a preview center in downtown Orlando where they can see a model UnionWest at Creative Village<\/a> bedroom and living space. The model showcases the residence hall\u2019s sleek, contemporary furniture and apartment finishes.<\/p>\n

Located inside UCF\u2019s Center for Emerging Media<\/a>, the preview center will be open<\/a> from 11\u00a0a.m. to 7\u00a0p.m. Monday through Wednesday\u00a0and from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.\u00a0Thursday through Saturday. A staff member will be present to help students and parents who have questions about the property or need assistance applying to live at UnionWest.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are very excited to have the preview center available for students who will begin taking classes downtown in August,\u201d said Mike Kilbride \u201812, assistant vice president for UCF Downtown. \u201cUnionWest is a unique building that helps create a vibrant campus community and places students at the center of both academic and professional experiences in downtown Orlando.\u201d<\/p>\n

The new residential community, which is privately developed and owned by Ustler Development and Development Ventures Group, will serve more than 600 UCF and Valencia College students. The 15-story building has restaurants on the ground floor, student services, classrooms and amenities on floors 1 \u2013 5, and residences on floors 6 \u2013 15.\u00a0UCF Housing and Residence Life<\/a> has been chosen by the developer to manage the student housing experience.<\/p>\n

\u201cUnionWest offers students a vibrant and innovative environment to live, learn and become tomorrow\u2019s global citizens,\u201d said April Hicks Konvalinka, executive director, UCF housing and residence life. \u201cThe partnership with Valencia College to create this unique campus experience in the heart of downtown is the first of its kind in the country. We are excited to be part of this collaboration and look forward to students living in UnionWest.\u201d<\/p>\n

Apartments and suites at UnionWest are furnished and will include a personal mini fridge for each resident, high-speed Wi-Fi and utilities. Each residential floor features a gathering space to meet up with friends or study, a laundry room and a community kitchen. A 6th<\/sup> floor resident-only club room includes lounge and study areas, community activities and an outdoor patio overlooking downtown Orlando and Creative Village Central Park.\u00a0Dedicated residential elevators provide high-speed access to the residential floors.<\/p>\n

UnionWest is located at the intersection of Livingston Street and Terry Avenue, across the street from the new Dr. Phillips Academic Commons. UCF Downtown will serve as the academic anchor of Creative Village, Orlando\u2019s urban innovation district, which includes the downtown campus, apartments, new startups and businesses.<\/p>\n
