Any information provided is kept in strict confidence. Please rest assured that we are very aware of concerns for safekeeping of your information. We want you to know that we strictly adhere to FERPA. Although it does limit what we can share with you about your student, it protects your student. Students can authorize the release of their records via the Registrar\u2019s Office or the myUCF portal. For more information regarding FERPA, please see the <a href=\"https:\/\/registrar.ucf.edu\/ferpa\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Registrar\u2019s Office website<\/a>.<\/p>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\n<\/section>\n<section id=\"scams\" class=\"auto-section\" data-section-link-title=\"Avoid Scams\">\t\t\t<div class=\"row my-4 my-sm-5\">\n\t\t\t\t\n<h2 class=\"mb-4\">Beware of Scams<\/h2>\n<p>By now, your mailbox may be receiving an influx of financial aid marketing pieces from outside organizations. Please know that UCF has a \u201cschool initiated\u201d application process, which means you must apply directly with our office to receive a federal student loan, rather than through an outside organization.<\/p>\n<p>You should not pay to process financial aid applications, and we recommend that you do not pay for scholarship searches. You should not pay an agency or business that \u201cguarantees\u201d you will be eligible for financial aid and you should not pay to have your <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ucf.edu\/financial-aid\/apply\/fafsa\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">FAFSA <\/a>completed for you. After all, the first F in FAFSA stands for Free.<br>\n\t\t\t<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\n<\/section>\n<section id=\"success-tips\" class=\"auto-section\" data-section-link-title=\"Tips &amp; Links\">\t\t\t<div class=\"row my-4 my-sm-5\">\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t<div class=\" col-lg-12\">\n\t\t\t\t\n<h2 class=\"mb-4\">Tips for Success<\/h2>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\n\t\t\t<div class=\" col-lg-7\">\n\t\t\t\t\n<ul class=\"section-list icon-list icon-list-custom\"><li class=\"icon-list-item\">\n\t\t<span class=\"icon-list-bullet icon-list-bullet-fonticon fa fa-chevron-right text-primary\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><\/span>\n\t\n\t<div class=\"icon-list-item-content\"><p>We created an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ucf.edu\/financial-aid\/apply\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Apply for Financial Assistance Checklist<\/a>, which we recommend you review and share with your student.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/li><li class=\"icon-list-item\">\n\t\t<span class=\"icon-list-bullet icon-list-bullet-fonticon fa fa-chevron-right text-primary\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><\/span>\n\t\n\t<div class=\"icon-list-item-content\"><p>In addition to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ucf.edu\/financial-aid\/resources\/understanding-to-do-list\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">monitoring the To-Do List<\/a>, it is important for students to read the Financial Aid Bulletins, found on the myUCF Student Center, for current and updated information throughout the year.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/li><li class=\"icon-list-item\">\n\t\t<span class=\"icon-list-bullet icon-list-bullet-fonticon fa fa-chevron-right text-primary\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><\/span>\n\t\n\t<div class=\"icon-list-item-content\"><p>You may want to remind your student to review the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ucf.edu\/financial-aid\/types\/scholarships\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">scholarship listing on our website<\/a>. Our scholarship search database is updated monthly and there are a number of scholarship opportunities listed. Find information about the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ucf.edu\/financial-aid\/types\/scholarships\/florida-bright-futures\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">types of Bright Futures scholarship programs<\/a>, eligibility and requirements.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/li><li class=\"icon-list-item\">\n\t\t<span class=\"icon-list-bullet icon-list-bullet-fonticon fa fa-chevron-right text-primary\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><\/span>\n\t\n\t<div class=\"icon-list-item-content\"><p>Financial aid disbursements begin after Add\/Drop (the period of time when a student may adjust their class schedule) has ended, usually two to three weeks into the semester.
