Dr. John Buckwalter<\/strong> currently serves as the Provost and Vice President for
\nAcademic Affairs at Boise State University. Boise State University is a metropolitan
\ndoctoral institution that serves over 27,000 students, with the vision of being a
\npremier student success driven research university innovating for statewide and
\nglobal impact. In 2023 Boise State University was recognized with the Degree
\nCompletion Award from Association of Public and Land Grant Universities (APLU)
\nand the Beacon Award for Student Success from the Northwest Commission on
\nColleges and Universities (NWCCU). In addition to initiatives around educational
\naccess and student success, Dr. Buckwalter has advocated for investment in
\nendowed faculty awards seeing numerous new endowed faculty professorships
\nfunded during the current capital campaign.<\/p>\n

Prior to joining Boise State University in 2021, Dr. Buckwalter served for 8 years as
\nthe Betty L. Tointon Dean of the College of Health and Human Sciences at Kansas
\nState University. He championed student success with innovative new academic
\nprograms and initiatives that emphasized professional preparedness and a
\ncompetitive edge for career advancement. The college was comprised of six
\ndepartments, multiple centers and institutes, and had an enrollment of ~2800
\nstudents. The academic programs within the college aligned with business, design,
\nteacher education, human behavior and health sciences.<\/p>\n

Prior to joining Kansas State University in 2013, Dr. Buckwalter spent six years at
\nthe University of Texas at Arlington as chair of the Department of Kinesiology and
\nlater as the Associate Dean for Research and Graduate Studies in the College of
\nEducation and Health Professions. Prior to moving to Texas, he spent 12 years at the
\nMedical College of Wisconsin where he began as a Post-Doctoral Fellow and
\neventually rose to the rank of Associate Professor of Anesthesiology. During his
\ntime in Wisconsin, he developed a primary research agenda related to the neural
\ncontrol of blood flow during exercise. Dr. Buckwalter\u2019s research has been supported
\nby a number of sources including grants from both the National Institutes of Health
\nand the American Heart Association.<\/p>\n

Dr. Buckwalter is originally from Arkansas and grew up in a military family. He
\nearned a B.A. in Spanish and B.S. in Health and Physical Education at Centenary
\nCollege in Shreveport Louisiana and both a M.S. and Ph.D. in Kinesiology from the
\nUniversity of Arkansas at Fayetteville. He is a Fellow of both the American
