Kay Clapham, senior secretary at the College of Nursing, has been named USPS Employee of the Month for December 2009.<\/p>\n
Awarded for her ability to facilitate front desk operations and creating innovative ways to making the office more efficient, Clapham’s commitment to the College of Nursing has been recognized by her co-workers who feel she exemplifies the true meaning of a hard worker.<\/p>\n
“Kay is the hub of our entire college. She is the first point of contact and embraces visitors with unending professionalism and kindness. Her student-centered work ethic reflects our mission and we are so fortunate to have her at the College of Nursing,” stated Dr. Jean Leuner, dean of the College of Nursing.<\/p>\n
In addition to a Barnes & Noble gift card, introduction to UCF’s Board of Trustees as well as other valuable prizes, Clapham is now one of 12 nominees eligible for the USPS Employee of the Year, which is awarded annually at UCF’s Employee Awards Program.<\/p>\n
Clapham’s proactive approach to handling obstacles in the office is highly appreciated and has not gone unnoticed. She provides a comfortable atmosphere to anyone who enters the room which reveals a lot about her character.<\/p>\n
When asked about their thoughts on Clapham’s work ethic, colleagues agreed that she exercised compassion while maintaining professionalism. They collectively expressed that she is the best they have ever worked with and appreciate her commitment of a job well done. She is kind, patient and always willing to help solve the challenges they face without ever complaining. Clapham certainly sets the standard for all university employees.<\/p>\n
