Hundreds of local fifth-graders will take their first steps on a college campus Tuesday, March 23.They\u2019ll be visiting the University of Central Florida\u2019s first-ever College Discovery Day \u2013 UCF\u2019s largest effort to reach out to such a young population from underserved schools in Orange, Seminole, Lake and Osceola counties.<\/p>\n
The fifth-graders will get a first-hand look at \u201ccool\u201d science projects, including animal bones, telescopes and computer animation while they take of tour of the campus.<\/p>\n
Tuesday\u2019s event will also reinforce President Obama\u2019s \u201cEducate to Innovate\u201d campaign to improve the participation and performance of U.S. students in science, technology, engineering and math (also called STEM).<\/p>\n
