After each clinching the American Athletic Conference championship<\/a> just over a week ago, the UCF men’s and women’s tennis teams earned national seeds in the NCAA Tournament for the first time in program history.<\/p>\n

Both squads were selected as the No. 9 seed and earned the right to host the first and second rounds at the USTA National Campus. The women will begin postseason play May 7 and the men will follow a day later.<\/p>\n

Women’s Outlook<\/strong><\/div>\n

The Knights currently rank No. 8 in the Oracle\/ITA team rankings \u2014 their highest standing in the national polls in program history. UCF earned the automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament after winning back-to-back conference titles on April 25.<\/p>\n

UCF opens NCAA action on May 7, hosting Charleston Southern at noon. FIU and Miami will face off in first round action following that, with the winners of each match advancing to play on May 8.<\/p>\n

This is UCF’s third consecutive trip to the NCAA Tournament. They progressed over the last two tournaments, advancing to the Second Round in 2018 with a win over FIU before falling 4-3 to nationally seeded Miami. The Knights made it to the Sweet 16 in 2019, sweeping Alabama the first round and upsetting No. 11 nationally seeded FSU 4-1.<\/p>\n

The Knights have gone unbeaten at home this season; they also finished the 2019 campaign with a perfect record in Orlando.<\/p>\n

Men’s Outlook<\/strong><\/div>\n

The Knights stand among the top 10 teams in the country, matching their highest slot in program history at No. 9 in the Oracle\/ITA team rankings. UCF earned the automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament after winning its first American Athletic Conference title on April 24, and is riding a 13-match winning streak heading into the NCAA Tournament.<\/p>\n

UCF opens NCAA action on May 8, hosting Monmouth at 2 p.m. Mississippi State and Miami will face off in first round action, with the winners of each match advancing to play on May 9.<\/p>\n

This will be UCF’s second consecutive trip to the NCAA Tournament as they fell in a heartbreaker to FSU in the First Round in 2019. A Knight win in the First Round of this year’s tournament would be the first NCAA Tournament victory in program history.<\/p>\n
