To develop a more sustainable path to recovery, Rovito and Brazendale are testing a uniquely designed intervention in Florida, known as the Physical Activity and Connectivity for Testicular Cancer Survivors (PACT) program.<\/p>\n<p>PACT combines low-impact, remote, physical activity with an online support network to help survivors navigate psychosocial challenges. Participants engage in regular low-intensity physical activity, such as walking or taking the stairs, and track their progress using Fitbit devices. The devices provide real-time feedback, allowing researchers to set weekly goals and offer personalized guidance. This feedback loop helps participants stay engaged while building sustainable habits.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re seeking an intervention they can do for the rest of their lives,\u201d Brazendale says. \u201cWe want these healthy supports to become habit.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2>Support Beyond Physical Recovery<\/h2>\n<p>Connected through Zoom sessions, PACT program participants receive personalized counsel and encouragement from the researchers directly. They also take part in virtual peer-support sessions led by a social worker and a survivor advocate trained in trauma-informed care. Monthly sessions include breathwork, meditation and discussions on common concerns such as fertility, relationship changes and fear of recurrence.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_152416\" style=\"max-width: 239px;\" class=\"figure float-left\"><noscript><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"239\" height=\"294\" class=\"figure-img img-fluid w-100 wp-image-152416 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ucf.edu\/wp-content\/blogs.dir\/20\/files\/2026\/04\/Keith-Brazendale.jpg\" alt=\"Keith-Brazendale\"><\/noscript><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"239\" height=\"294\" class=\"figure-img img-fluid w-100 wp-image-152416 size-full lazyload\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml,%3Csvg%20xmlns%3D%22http%3A%2F%2Fwww.w3.org%2F2000%2Fsvg%22%20viewBox%3D%220%200%20239%20294%22%3E%3C%2Fsvg%3E\" alt=\"Keith-Brazendale\" Brazendale<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cThe online support session provides coping strategies and tools for the participants to use during the day, when they can feel anxious or depressed or overwhelmed,\u201d Rovito says.<\/p>\n<p>Outside of the meetings, researchers stay in touch regularly with individual messages to participants, sending tailored motivational text messages.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur hope is that we are providing realistic physical activity changes that are sustainable when the monitoring ends,\u201d says Brazendale. \u201cWe want these survivors to have adopted habits and skills that result in them being healthier over the long-term.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The researchers say they hope to expand the program to other cancer survivor groups and integrate it into broader survivorship care across Florida, while securing additional funding for larger-scale trials.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<p><em>The Feasibility of the Physical Activity and Connectivity for Testicular
