(Photo courtesy of <strong>Christian Spencer \u201923 \u201926MS<\/strong>)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>That&nbsp;dream&nbsp;started during&nbsp;his&nbsp;childhood in Virginia, when&nbsp;his&nbsp;parents went through a difficult divorce, and he&nbsp;found&nbsp;his&nbsp;happy place at Busch Gardens Williamsburg.&nbsp;He went on to become a theater student, and in high school he took a job&nbsp;at the park&nbsp;as a performer.<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s&nbsp;when he&nbsp;knew&nbsp;he&nbsp;could turn his passion into a career.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs a kid,&nbsp;I could immerse myself in a show and have a reprieve from&nbsp;difficult times&nbsp;at home.&nbsp;I knew that someday I wanted to create that happiness for others,\u201d&nbsp;Spencer&nbsp;says. \u201cOnce I&nbsp;had the opportunity&nbsp;to work there, I was fascinated&nbsp;by what it took&nbsp;behind the scenes&nbsp;to bring a theme park experience to life.&nbsp;I&nbsp;wanted a career filled with days like those.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>To pursue&nbsp;this path,&nbsp;he&nbsp;set&nbsp;his&nbsp;sights&nbsp;on attending&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/hospitality.ucf.edu\/\">UCF\u2019s&nbsp;Rosen College of Hospitality Management<\/a>, where he&nbsp;went on to&nbsp;earn&nbsp;his <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ucf.edu\/degree\/entertainment-management-bs\/\">bachelor\u2019s degree in entertainment management<\/a>&nbsp;in 2023.&nbsp;Just&nbsp;this week,&nbsp;UCF&nbsp;welcomed&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/corporate.universaldestinationsandexperiences.com\/company\/\">Universal Destinations and Experiences<\/a> as its first entertainment-sector Pegasus Partner and announced the creation of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ucf.edu\/news\/universal-destinations-experiences-ucf-introduce-new-school-to-develop-the-future-leaders-of-themed-entertainment-immersive-experiences\/\">The Universal School of Experience Leadership and Innovation<\/a>&nbsp;at Rosen College.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen I found Rosen College, I knew it was the place for me,\u201d he says.&nbsp;\u201cOn the first day of class, my professor talked about the joys of a career in the theme park industry. throughout his journey,&nbsp;helping him to work toward&nbsp;his goal&nbsp;of&nbsp;becoming&nbsp;a show director&nbsp;in one of the local world-class theme parks.<\/p>\n<p>The same professor who inspired him on day one later encouraged him to pursue a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ucf.edu\/degree\/themed-experience-ms\/\">master\u2019s degree in&nbsp;themed experience<\/a>, part of&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ucf.edu\/college\/arts-humanities\/\">UCF\u2019s&nbsp;College of Arts and Humanities<\/a>.&nbsp;This program&nbsp;is designed&nbsp;for&nbsp;the&nbsp;next generation of creators, artists and leaders&nbsp;who&nbsp;are redefining what it means to be entertained, and Spencer just&nbsp;graduated in early May.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy UCF journey has been the experience of a lifetime,\u201d he says.&nbsp;\u201cAnd the best part is that I\u2019ll spend my career creating experiences that are just as life-changing for others.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Last year, Spencer received a&nbsp;Universal Orlando&nbsp;Impact Award&nbsp;recognizing his contributions&nbsp;to&nbsp;the&nbsp;grand opening celebration of Epic Universe, the resort\u2019s newest theme park.<\/p>\n<p>He&nbsp;shared his&nbsp;story on stage&nbsp;at&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/advance.ucf.edu\/go-for-launch\/liftoff\/\">UCF\u2019s Go For Launch campaign liftoff<\/a>,&nbsp;inspiring the UCF community&nbsp;and&nbsp;demonstrating&nbsp;the power of a Knight education to&nbsp;reshape what it means to be entertained and what the future of experiences holds for people everywhere.<\/p>\n<p>The UCF-Universal&nbsp;Pegasus Partnership&nbsp;is a&nbsp;significant early&nbsp;milestone&nbsp;of&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/advance.ucf.edu\/go-for-launch\/\">Go For Launch<\/a>&nbsp;\u2014&nbsp;a&nbsp;$3.5 billion&nbsp;campaign to expand&nbsp;opportunity, advance&nbsp;discovery&nbsp;and drive impact across the university.<\/p>\n<p>Spencer\u2019s&nbsp;story shows
