The Wings of Blue, at the Air Force Academy near Colorado Springs, Colorado average about 50 performances each year and are considered one of the best in the nation. The practice run is scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m. and should not disrupt any university operations. The jump is one of many special events planned during homecoming to honor the men and women of the armed forces. <\/p>\n
At the end of the national anthem at Saturday\u2019s football game, two T-38 aircraft from the 14th Flying Training Wing of Columbus Air Force Base will complete a flyover. The 14th Flying Training Wing of Columbus Air Force Base in Mississippi trains the world\u2019s best military pilots. The wing is part of the 14th Operations Support Squadron providing support including ground and simulator training, air traffic control, and airfield and airspace management.<\/p>\n
Saturday\u2019s commemorative events also will include honoring local residents, Phil and Maureen Miller, during the game in recognition of their son, Staff Sergeant Robert Miller, who was recently awarded the Medal of Honor posthumously.<\/p>\n
