{"id":18193,"date":"2010-11-24T15:14:54","date_gmt":"2010-11-24T20:14:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ucf.edu\/news\/?p=18193"},"modified":"2014-02-03T14:25:17","modified_gmt":"2014-02-03T19:25:17","slug":"better-than-yale-harvard-ucf-endowment-returns","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ucf.edu\/news\/better-than-yale-harvard-ucf-endowment-returns\/","title":{"rendered":"UCF&#8217;s Endowment Investment Returns top Yale&#8217;s, Harvard&#8217;s"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The UCF Foundation announced a 12.5 percent return on endowment investments for the 2010 fiscal year, beating Harvard\u2019s 11 percent return and Yale\u2019s 8.9 percent return.<\/p>\n<p>Investment returns are used at UCF to support student scholarships and academic programs.<\/p>\n<p>UCF\u2019s endowments ended the year with a value of $104 million, a 37 percent increase from their lowest point in February 2009, when the fund was valued at $76 million.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe weathered the worst recession ever recorded by trusting our investment decisions and maintaining reserves during more prosperous times,\u201d said Bob Holmes, CEO of the UCF Foundation.<\/p>\n<p>UCF\u2019s endowments are governed by an investment committee under the direction of a board of directors, an advisory group and UCF Foundation staff members.<\/p>\n<p>The UCF Foundation, established in 1969, serves as the official fund-raising and gift beneficiary for the university.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"The UCF Foundation announced a 12.5 percent return on endowment investments for the 2010 fiscal year, beating Harvard\u2019s 11 percent return and Yale\u2019s 8.9 percent return.
