Freshmen and seniors at the University of Central Florida can help guide their school\u2019s future by completing a survey that measures student experiences. <\/p>\n
The National Survey of Student Engagement was distributed to first-year and graduating students last week through Knights e-mail.<\/p>\n
Students who received the survey are encouraged to provide feedback on ways to improve the educational experience at UCF by answering questions about their professors, classes, study habits, social habits and co-curricular activities.<\/p>\n
The survey is distributed every three years by NSSEsurvey.org in cooperation with the UCF Office of Operational Excellence and Assessment Support. Input from the surveys is used to make improvements related to student learning, opportunities and success.<\/p>\n
Results from UCF\u2019s 2008 NSSE survey indicated that students weren\u2019t feeling confident in their writing and critical reading skills. That feedback contributed to last year\u2019s launch of UCF\u2019s Department of Writing and Rhetoric, which provides writing-related assistance and training to students and faculty members.<\/p>\n
On a national level, the NSSE is used to understand the experience of students in the 21st century and to gauge how well colleges and universities are providing what students need to succeed.<\/p>\n
Students selected to take the UCF survey can access it through Knights e-mail. The\u00a0 survey takes about 15 minutes to complete, and all responses are confidential.
