High school students and their families can receive assistance with finding money for college and enter to win a $250 scholarship during College Goal Sunday.<\/p>\n
The annual event will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 20, in the Pegasus Ballroom of the Student Union located on the University of Central Florida\u2019s East Orlando campus. Free parking will be available in Garage A located at the intersection of University and Gemini boulevards.<\/p>\n
Students who plan to attend any university or community college are welcome to attend. The event is open to all students but is primarily designed for high school students and their families.<\/p>\n
Attendees can benefit from free, on-site professional assistance with completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, or FAFSA. This is the form that helps students access billions of dollars in federal funds available for college.<\/p>\n
Each student who completes the FAFSA during the event will be entered into a $250 scholarship drawing.<\/p>\n
In order to complete the FAFSA on site, students and parents need to provide their filed 2010 tax forms or their W-2 forms if they haven\u2019t filed their taxes yet. They also should bring their most recent bank statement. Students and parents are encouraged to apply online for a Federal Student Aid PIN number before the event. <\/p>\n
Presentations will be given at the top of every hour, starting at 2 p.m. The 3 p.m. presentation will be in Spanish. Staff members who speak Spanish will be available to help families and translate information throughout the event.<\/p>\n
UCF will be one of seven College Goal Sunday locations in Central Florida.<\/p>\n
College Goal Sunday is funded nationally by Lumina, a private, independent foundation that strives to help people achieve their potential in education beyond high school. Florida’s events are coordinated by Enlace, a network promoting college readiness, access and success for Latinos, African-Americans and other underrepresented students through community efforts.<\/p>\n
