Acclaimed film critic Richard Roeper will speak about movies and pop culture during a presentation at the University of Central Florida.<\/p>\n
\u201cAn Evening with Richard Roeper\u201d will begin at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 16, in the Pegasus Ballroom of the Student Union. The event is free and open to the public.<\/p>\n
Roeper is a columnist and film critic for the Chicago Sun-Times. An Emmy award winner for his documentaries, Roeper has also been honored for his work as a columnist by the Associated Press.<\/p>\n
From 2000 to 2006, he co-hosted the popular film review television show \u201cEbert & Roeper,\u201d replacing the late Gene Siskel as critic Robert Ebert\u2019s sidekick. He left the show in 2008, and he currently co-hosts \u201cThe Roe Conn Show\u201d on Chicago’s WLS-AM 890 radio station.<\/p>\n
Roeper\u2019s presentation is sponsored by the Campus Activities Board, which also hosts many other events for students interested in film. Most recently, the organization brought the student film festival Campus Movie Fest to UCF. Every Saturday, CAB holds \u201cMovies on the Plaza,\u201d where the latest releases are played on a large projector outside the UCF Arena.<\/p>\n
