Dr. Barry Kerzin, a Buddhist monk and personal physician to the Dalai Lama, will give two presentations to students and lead a public workshop at the University of Central Florida.<\/p>\n

Kerzin is a licensed physician who gave up his traditional medical practice in the United States to charitably serve high lamas and the poor in India.<\/p>\n

Kerzin will talk with UCF students about philosophy and religion during a presentation from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Wednesday, April 6. The lecture, which is free and open to UCF students, will be held at UCF\u2019s East Orlando campus, in room 122 of Classroom Building I.<\/p>\n

Kerzin will also lead an all-day workshop titled \u201cCultivating a Peaceful Mind through Meditation\u201d on Saturday, April 9. The workshop, which is open to the public, will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in room 108 of the Psychology Building on the East Orlando campus.<\/p>\n

At the workshop, Kerzin will talk about cultivating love and compassion through enhancing honesty, respect and trust. He\u2019ll discuss the meaning of meditation, and he will lead in the audience in meditation techniques. There will also be a question-and-answer session.<\/p>\n

Free parking for the workshop will be available in Garage D, located across from the UCF Arena. Directions to campus and the Psychology Building are available at\u00a0https:\/\/ucf.edu\/locations<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The public workshop is sponsored by the Department of Philosophy, the Center for Humanities and Digital Research, the College of Arts and Humanities and the College of Medicine.<\/p>\n
