{"id":3097,"date":"2009-05-29T16:54:22","date_gmt":"2009-05-29T20:54:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ucf.edu\/news\/?p=3097"},"modified":"2019-07-18T12:06:04","modified_gmt":"2019-07-18T16:06:04","slug":"social-work-upturn","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ucf.edu\/news\/social-work-upturn\/","title":{"rendered":"Social Work Upturn"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The economic downturn and growing elder population are just two reasons social work is one of the fastest-growing professions in the nation&#8211;it will grow by 16 percent by 2016, according to the U.S. Department of Labor.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0in 0in 10pt;\">UCF is providing a qualified workforce through its part-time and advance-standing <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ucf.edu\/degree\/social-work-msw\/\">Master of Social Work programs<\/a> in Daytona Beach. Graduates will practice community-based clinical social work in areas such as schools, addictions and substance abuse, health care, children and families, and gerontology.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0in 0in 10pt;\">Students will take two courses a semester (including summer) and attend an evening class once weekly through <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ucf.edu\/online\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">UCF&#8217;s Learning on Demand <\/a>program, which lets students take courses online, in a classroom or a combination of both.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt;\">An information session for the Master of Social Work program will be held on Wednesday, June 3 at noon at UCF Daytona Beach\u00a0located on 1200\u00a0W.
