Because of Florida\u2019s hurricanes, tornadoes, lightning and other dangerous weather, it is always important to be prepared.<\/p>\n
The UCF Office of Emergency Management and the Emergency Management Student Association will distribute safety information Jan. 30 to Feb. 3 during Florida\u2019s Severe Weather Awareness Week.<\/p>\n
Central Florida experiences severe-weather events throughout the year, and it is important to know what to do and how to prepare before an event occurs, the office said. The week\u2019s activities are a joint effort with the National Weather Service and Florida Department of Emergency Management.<\/p>\n
To commemorate the event, each day the office will post tips about different weather hazards on its website, The office also will distribute severe-weather information on campus: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday outside Health and Public Affairs I, and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday during Market Day outside the Student Union.<\/p>\n

Monday: Lightning<\/p>\n
Tuesday: Marine Hazards and Rip Currents<\/p>\n
Wednesday: Tornadoes and Thunderstorms<\/p>\n
Thursday: Hurricanes and Flooding<\/p>\n
Friday: Temperature Extremes and Wildfires<\/p>\n
