Representatives from Intel and Nvidia will present hardware roadmaps and software environments and discuss how to get the most out of multi-core architectures.<\/p>\n

The one-day workshop is presented by UCF and other Sunshine State Education and Research Computing Alliance (SSERCA) members: Florida State University, University of Florida, University of Miami and University of South Florida.<\/p>\n

SSERCA is funded, in part, by the State University System of Florida Board of Governors\u2019 New Florida Initiative. The multi-year initiative was launched in partnership with the Governor and Legislature to help support growth in fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics.<\/p>\n

Workshop goals are to introduce researchers to next-generation computing architectures and development environments for extreme-scale computing, introduce researchers to SSERCA and ways that this new organization can help support extreme-scale research computing efforts, and form statewide working groups to address extreme-scale computing challenges and opportunities.<\/p>\n

UCF\u2019s own \u201csuper computer\u201d a multi-core IBM system capable of around 7.3 Trillion Floating Point Operations Per Second (TFLOPS) is housed at the Institute for Simulation & Training\u2019s STOKES Advanced Research Computing Center and available to researchers university-wide.<\/p>\n

Although the workshop is offered at no cost, registration is required and can be accomplished at https:\/\/sserca.fau.edu\/.<\/p>\n
