The University of Central Florida Library will host a free workshop June 15 about the America Invents Act. Approved in 2011, the act features the most significant changes to U.S. patent law in decades.<\/p>\n
The workshop from 1 to 4 p.m. in room 223 of the Library will feature a presentation by Anton Hopen, a patent attorney with Smith & Hopen. Entrepreneurs, engineers, research faculty members, technology managers, independent inventors and newly admitted patent attorneys are among those encouraged to attend.<\/p>\n
Topics will include how the patent system protects innovations and how patent reform will impact the protection of intellectual property. There also will be an interactive workshop on how to draft a patent claim and a discussion on how to find problems in a poorly drafted patent.<\/p>\n
