Knight-Thon is UCF\u2019s Dance Marathon benefiting the Children\u2019s Miracle Network and UCF’s largest student-run philanthropy, and each year it has grown\u00a0in participation and funds raised. In its 16th year, Knight-Thon raised\u00a0more than\u00a0$118,000, which was a 41 percent increase over the previous year, and participation increased 35 percent.<\/p>\n

With a new executive board already in place, the organization is working hard to reach\u00a0its 2012-13 goal of $170,000.<\/p>\n

Hundreds of students\u00a0from\u00a0more than\u00a060 student organizations fundraise year-round, and it all leads up to a Dance Marathon where participants stand on their feet for 16 hours in an effort to raise awareness for Central Florida\u2019s local Children\u2019s Miracle Network Hospitals. The marathon challenges students to stay on their feet while keeping in mind sick children who are not able to stand.<\/p>\n

Each hour a different type of music like country-western, rock and oldies keeps students moving. “Moralers\u201d move about the participants offering support and\u00a0snacks, and each hour they lead a morale dance to keep everyone in high spirits.<\/p>\n
