Representing Team USA and the Black and Gold, Aurieyall Scott and Octavious Freeman ran away with the competition in the 100-meter finals at the North American, Central American and Caribbean U-23 Track and Field Championships in\u00a0Guanajuato, Mexico.<\/p>\n
They crossed the finish line smiling ear to ear as the first Knights to ever medal at the bi-annual meet.<\/p>\n
Scott earned gold with a season-best time of 11.19 (+1.6) while Freeman fell in step behind her teammate at 11.20 (+1.6) for silver at Paralympic Track Stadium. The duo broke away early and their advantage was never threatened as the bronze medalist finished nearly a quarter of a second behind them.<\/p>\n
Team USA, 4×100 Relay<\/strong><\/p>\n Scott and Freeman concluded the 2012 season in the best possible way: With gold medals adorning their necks while standing on the podium to the tune of the Star-Spangled Banner.<\/p>\n Freeman and Scott helped Team USA’s 4×100 relay earn first place at the NACAC U23 Championships. They ran the second and third legs, respectively, as the team jetted to a time of 43.58.
