Five students from the Rosen College of Hospitality Management at the University of Central Florida designed, produced and presented a special breakout session during the 45th annual Florida Governor\u2019s Conference on Tourism. Sponsored by Visit Orlando, the student presentation “Engineering Your Pathway to 2022” was a technology driven, multi-media seminar for industry professionals.<\/p>\n
The student panel presented research on Infrastructure Management, Emerging Technology and Emerging Global Markets, and forecasted how these components would impact tourism and tourism organizations in Florida over the next 10 years.<\/p>\n
The session was driven by the following three main learning objectives: how technology is changing and its impact on tourism; the importance of state infrastructure and its impact on tourism; and the importance of global population booms, emerging markets and their impact on future tourism.<\/p>\n
Dr. James Hogg, a lecturer at UCF\u2019s Rosen College, mentored and guided the students through the research, design, development, and deployment of the breakout session.<\/p>\n
\u201cI am very proud of these students, and how they represented the Rosen College of Hospitality Management,\u201d said Hogg. \u201cThey conducted a professional-level industry educational session, and they were all well received by attendees.\u201d<\/p>\n
The session was driven by technology through the use of Prezi presentation software, and integrated multimedia, digital media, and social media, as well as a Twitter feed for both live and virtual attendees.<\/p>\n
