Since 2005, more than 1,100 students enrolled in the Cornerstone Course have worked with Boys Town of Central Florida. Not only has it been a rewarding experience for the students, the students are being rewarded for their experience.<\/p>\n
Florida Campus Compact, a coalition of more than 50 colleges and universities committed to promoting community service, service learning and civic engagement awarded UCF the Campus-Community Partnership Award<\/em>\u00a0on behalf of the College of Business Administration\u2019s work with Boys Town, an organization dedicated to the housing and education of at-risk children.<\/p>\n The award honors one partnership that has successfully demonstrated a commitment to higher education and community that has resulted in a tangible community impact.<\/p>\n \u201cBoys Town Central Florida is grateful for the significant partnership that exists between UCF and Boys Town. Not because of the various events and activities the students plan and facilitate, providing memories that will last a lifetime, but because of the role model aspect of the partnership. Although we greatly appreciate the activities UCF students provide, it is their being role models to our youth that makes all the difference,\u201d said Terry Knox, development director of Boys Town.<\/p>\n \u201cOur youth look up to the students, and through the interaction that occurs between them, Boys Town youth develop a \u201ccan-do\u201d attitude, an attitude that is positive and motivational for our at-risk youth.
