<\/strong>In a unique series of six films debuting on WUCF TV Friday, Jan. 25, \u201cShakespeare Uncovered\u201d will combine history, biography, iconic performances, new analysis and the personal passions of its celebrated hosts \u2013 Ethan Hawke, Jeremy Irons and others \u2013 to tell the stories behind the stories of Shakespeare\u2019s greatest plays.<\/p>\n

Alongside each national episode, WUCF TV will air its own locally produced mini-series \u201cShakespeare Uncovered: In Our Town, In Our Time,\u201d exploring William Shakespeare\u2019s works and the still-potent impact they have today.<\/p>\n

Each local episode is produced with the Orlando Shakespeare Theater in Partnership with UCF, combining interviews with actors, directors and illustrative excerpts from local performances and events.<\/p>\n

Covering themes such as violence, racism and the community impact of the region\u2019s only professional Shakespeare theater, each \u201cIn Our Town, In Our Time\u201d episode goes \u201cbehind the Bard\u201d in Central Florida to share stories of staging Shakespeare\u2019s works and their modern-day relevancy.<\/p>\n

Friday, Jan. 25, 2013<\/strong><\/p>\n

Shakespeare Uncovered: Macbeth<\/em> With Ethan Hawke<\/strong><\/p>\n

9:00 p.m. to 10 p.m.<\/p>\n

Ethan Hawke invites viewers on his quest to play Shakespeare\u2019s murderous Thane of Cawdor by researching the true story and real-life events that served as the play\u2019s inspiration.<\/p>\n

Shakespeare Uncovered: The Comedies With Joely Richardson<\/strong><\/p>\n

10:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.<\/p>\n

Joely Richardson investigates (with her mother Vanessa Redgrave) the legacy of two brilliant cross-dressing comedies, Twelfth Night<\/em> and As You Like It<\/em>, with their missing twins, mistaken identities and characters in disguise; their connections to Shakespeare\u2019s personal life; and the great romantic heroines created by Shakespeare in these two perennially popular plays.<\/p>\n

Friday, Feb. 1, 2013<\/strong><\/p>\n

Shakespeare Uncovered: Richard II<\/em> With Derek Jacobi<\/strong><\/p>\n

9:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.<\/p>\n

In returning to the role of a deposed monarch whose crown is taken from him, Derek Jacobi takes a 360-degree view of this great political thriller whose title character he played more than 30 years ago.<\/p>\n

Shakespeare Uncovered: Henry IV<\/em> & Henry V<\/em> With Jeremy Irons<\/strong><\/p>\n

10:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.<\/p>\n

Jeremy Irons uncovers the enduring appeal of Shakespeare\u2019s most iconic \u201chistory plays,\u201d from the true English history embedded into the works to the father-son drama that Shakespeare created.<\/p>\n

Friday, Feb. 8, 2013<\/strong><\/p>\n

Shakespeare Uncovered: Hamlet<\/em> With David Tennant<\/strong><\/p>\n

9:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.<\/p>\n

An acclaimed Hamlet in the Royal Shakespeare Company\u2019s hit production, David Tennant meets fellow actors who\u2019ve tackled this most iconic of roles, including superstar Jude Law, and compares notes on the role\u2019s titanic challenges.<\/p>\n

Shakespeare Uncovered: The Tempest<\/em> With Trevor Nunn<\/strong><\/p>\n

10:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.<\/p>\n

Trevor Nunn, the legendary director who has helmed 30 of Shakespeare\u2019s 37 plays \u2013 and aims to complete them all before he retires \u2013 takes us through the magical and mysterious world created in the playwright\u2019s last complete work.<\/p>\n
