{"id":4614,"date":"2009-07-29T16:37:52","date_gmt":"2009-07-29T20:37:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ucf.edu\/news\/?p=4614"},"modified":"2021-01-08T11:06:27","modified_gmt":"2021-01-08T16:06:27","slug":"ucf-part-of-million-dollar-solar-energy-projects","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ucf.edu\/news\/ucf-part-of-million-dollar-solar-energy-projects\/","title":{"rendered":"UCF Part of Million Dollar Solar Energy Projects"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>US Department of Energy Secretary Steven Chu announced today the investment of up to $11.8 million &#8211; $5 million from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act &#8211; for projects designed to advance the next stage of development of solar energy grid integration systems (SEGIS).<\/p>\n<p>The selections announced today include:<\/p>\n<p>Petra Solar of South Plainfield, NJ: Petra Solar will work with the <em>University of Central Florida (Orlando, FL)<\/em> and Fifteen Electric Utilities.\u00a0This project complements the mission of the Solar Program to achieve the widespread adoption of solar energies. It supports improving reliability and resiliency so that high levels of PV integration can be adapted.<\/p>\n<p>DOE cost-share: up to $2.9 million<\/p>\n<p><em>Florida Solar Energy Center\/UCF: UCF and its Florida Solar Energy Center <\/em>will work with Satcon Technology Corporation (Boston, MA), SENTECH, Inc. (Bethesda, MD), SunEdison (Beltsville, MD), Cooper Power Systems EAS (Minneapolis, MN), Northern Plains Power Technologies (Brookings, SD) and Lakeland Electric Utilities (Lakeland, FL).
