During her visits to Africa, Betsy helped teenage boys establish a soccer team as part of the Kenya Football Federation and a youth group focused on helping others. The boys, who live in the slums of Kiberia, learned to help them selves through Betsy’s efforts.<\/p>\n
“We are taught to not only help individuals but to address injustices, such as poverty and racism, in larger social systems. It’s been empowering for me as a student,” said Betsy.<\/p>\n
“Through experiential learning, students gain a greater understanding of the world around them and are taught to impact their world.
