UCF and Touro Law Center<\/a> are pleased to announce the creation of a three-plus-three accelerated law program.<\/p>\n

The program will provide qualified UCF students with an opportunity\u00a0to complete a Bachelor of Arts or Science in Legal Studies from UCF and a Juris Doctor (Doctor of Law) from Touro Law Center\u00a0in six rather than seven years.<\/p>\n

Touro Law Center is part of the Touro College system of nonprofit institutions of higher and professional education based in Central Islip, N.Y.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are thrilled to launch this program, which has many benefits for students,\u201d said Touro Law Dean Patricia Salkin, who recently visited UCF to\u00a0formalize the agreement. \u201cIn addition to providing committed and qualified students with the benefit of earning both degrees in six years, these students also will enjoy the prestige of being part of the program and save a year\u2019s worth of tuition and time.\u201d<\/p>\n

The three-plus-three program, once formally approved by the university,\u00a0will be available to students entering UCF in the\u00a0fall of 2014. Admission to the program will be determined by personnel at both UCF and Touro Law. Participants in the program will complete the first three years of study at UCF and the fourth year in residence at Touro Law Center as part of the first year of law school.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is an exciting opportunity for UCF and Touro Law. Many of our undergraduate students want to pursue a law degree. This gives them an opportunity to earn their degree from UCF in a concentrated three years and then enter a great New York law school to continue their legal education and training,\u201d said Michael Frumkin, dean of UCF\u2019s College of Health\u00a0and Public Affairs.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship,\u201d added James Beckman, chair of UCF’s Department of Legal Studies.<\/p>\n
