Millican Society donors were treated to an up-close-and-personal conversation with Dr. Deborah German, vice president for medical affairs and founding dean of the UCF College of Medicine last week at the medical campus at Lake Nona.\u00a0 Named for UCF\u2019s founding president, the Millican Society recognizes individuals who have made plans for the future of UCF and its students by including the university in their estate plans.<\/p>\n
Dean German thanked the group for their support and talked about the transformational power of philanthropy. \u201cThe UCF College of Medicine is here today because of people like, you,\u201d she said.\u00a0 She noted that Central Florida\u2019s philanthropic spirit enabled each member of the college\u2019s charter class to graduate debt free, just as she did when she was in medical school. Participants were treated to a behind-the-scenes tour of the state-of-the art facility; including an inside look at the technology that drives 21st Century healthcare.<\/p>\n
UCF Foundation CEO Robert Holmes echoed Dean German\u2019s sentiment in his welcome remarks and celebrated the shared vision of UCF and the generous community partners whose time, talent and resources made the Medical City a reality. Donald Hale, director of Gift Planning at the UCF Foundation expressed his gratitude. \u201cOur Millican Society members know that education transforms lives,\u201d he said. \u201cTheir commitment to the university is not only larger than life, it transcends life.\u201d<\/p>\n
Planned gift commitments will be a vital component of UCF\u2019s next comprehensive capital\u00a0campaign. Since July 2011, donors have documented more than $15 million in future gifts to UCF.<\/p>\n
