UCF President John C. Hitt and three other business and civic leaders will be honored this fall by Junior Achievementof Central Florida.<\/p>\n
The leaders will be honored at a Nov. 13 Mid-Florida Business Hall of Fame event for their contributions to Central Florida and their impact in the community.<\/p>\n
Under Hitt, UCF has had a long relationship with Junior Achievement. In 2011-12, UCF earned the U.S. President\u2019s Volunteer Service Award, the only university in the nation to receive the honor that year. The gold award is given to organizations that provide at least 15,000 volunteer hours a year to Junior Achievement projects. UCF student volunteers donated more than double that mark with more than 35,000 service hours.<\/p>\n
Hitt won the \u201cLaureate\u201d award along with Joan Ruffier, a community leader and CPA, and James M. Seneff, founder and executive chairman of CNL Financial Group. Ruffier also was the first woman to chair the State University System\u2019s Board of Regents, and she serves as an honorary director of the UCF Foundation.<\/p>\n
Recognized with the \u201cSpirit of Achievement Award\u201d was Harold Mills, chief executive officer of ZeroChaos, a global workforce solutions company headquartered in Orlando.<\/p>\n
The Hall of Fame event will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Nov. 13 at the hotel, 9840 International Drive, Orlando.<\/p>\n
