UCF in Focus, a new series beginning today on the UCF Today website, will feature photographs taken by members of the UCF Photography Club from around the campus and around the world.<\/p>\n

The UCF in Focus series is coordinated by the university\u2019s News & Information office and will include a different image each week. Each posted photo will include descriptive information about the shot and metadata about the camera, lens, lighting and\u00a0shutter speed.<\/p>\n

The club hosts regular meetings, instructional programs, \u201cphotowalks\u201d and monthly photo competitions.<\/p>\n

Club president Michael Mendonca, a senior accounting major from Boca Raton, said there are about 350 members on the club\u2019s Facebook group.<\/p>\n

The next activity is a photowalk at the Winter Garden Farmers Market on Oct. 6, and the next club meeting is at\u00a07 p.m. Nov. 6 in Room 112 at the Nicholson School of Communication. The meeting program is open to everyone and will be about post production using Photoshop, Nik Software and other technology.<\/p>\n

Today’s first UCF in Focus photo by club member Erin Barbeau shows sanderlings bathing in a tide pool at high tide. Sanderlings, a type of sandpiper,\u00a0are normally skittish shorebirds, but\u00a0the photographer said\u00a0the birds\u00a0were preoccupied while splashing about, which allowed\u00a0her to approach at close range to take the photo.<\/p>\n
