Ghosts, ghouls and goblins are taking over the University of Central Florida on Friday, Oct. 25, for the first United Way Spooky Knight 5K Run\/Walk in an effort to stop homelessness in Central Florida. Pre-race activities and games begin at 5:30 p.m. on the Recreation and Wellness Center\u2019s Green next to the leisure pool. The race begins at 7 p.m.<\/p>\n
The event is the perfect way for the UCF community and Knights to give back during Live United month, UCF\u2019s annual campaign to support the United Way. Runners will have the opportunity to dress up in their favorite costumes as they trek around UCF\u2019s beautiful campus.<\/p>\n
Proceeds from the race will support the Coalition for the Homeless, the largest provider of support services to the homeless in Central Florida. Since 1987, the Coalition for the Homeless of Central Florida has helped more than 750 people daily with shelter and support in an effort to return families and individuals to self-sufficiency. The Coalition also helps more than 250 children each day and provided more than 300,000 meals to people in need last year.<\/p>\n
Events like the Spooky Knight 5K Run\/Walk are an example of the fundraising and team-building initiatives available to the campus community during this time of giving on campus.
