The native Florida Scrub Jay\u00a0is a threatened species because much of its habitat\u00a0has been destroyed. This bird was photographed at the Savannas Preserve State Park, which is on the Atlantic Coast near Fort Pierce. The small red band on its leg was placed by park rangers to track the population in the park. The birds\u00a0are quite curious and often appear\u00a0to investigate intruders in their territory.<\/p>\n
