JP Kellams, creative producer at PlatinumGames, will give a free presentation Friday, Feb. 28, at UCF\u2019s Center for Emerging Media about the differences between the Japanese and American game industries, lessons learned and tips for pitching new video game ideas.<\/p>\n

Kellams started his gaming career in 2005 when he joined Capcom, a developer and publisher of video games, in its Osaka development offices. He worked on a variety of titles including God Hand, Monster Hunter Freedom and the Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney series.<\/p>\n

In 2007, Kellams joined PlatinumGames, where he helped create the English adaptations of Bayonetta and Bayonetta 2, Vanquish, and The Wonderful 101, while providing additional writing and creative support on all of the studio\u2019s titles.<\/p>\n

He has worked on the soundtracks for MadWorld, Anarchy Reigns, and Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance. A 2003 graduate of the University of Florida in East Asian languages and literature, he is currently creative producer on an upcoming PlatinumGames project.<\/p>\n

The 11 a.m. presentation is open to the public and will be livestreamed at https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=EY5f698omfc<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Also Friday,\u00a0five teams of UCF student game developers will have the progress of their video games judged at 1:30 p.m.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The presentations are a chance for the students at Florida Interactive Entertainment Academy, UCF\u2019s graduate video game development school, to show off the promising game mechanics and stories of their games in hopes their games will be approved for continued development. The five games being reviewed are Rotten Fruit, Neon Night Riders, Focal Length, Welcome and Hit.<\/p>\n

The games serve as the students\u2019 master\u2019s thesis when they graduate inDecember from the 16-month program.<\/p>\n

The public is invited to the student presentations at the Center for Emerging Media, 500 W. Livingston St., Orlando. The winners will be announced after 5 p.m. that day. The presentations will also be livestreamed at http:\/\/bit.ly\/MriAho<\/a>.<\/p>\n
