The day will focus on celebrating literacy and learning, and this year\u2019s theme is Informational Text in the Age of New Educational Standards.<\/p>\n<p>Mark Aronson of Rutgers University will be the keynote speaker, presenting \u201cWhy Is Nonfiction Defined By What It Isn\u2019t?\u201d Other topics include the Common Core State Standards, literacy development, vocabulary and comprehension, and college and career readiness.<\/p>\n<p>More information about the symposium, including a link to register to attend, can be found at <a href=\"http:\/\/education.ucf.edu\/litsymposium\/index.cfm\">http:\/\/education.ucf.edu\/litsymposium\/index.cfm<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Instructing reading and writing in an age of new educational standards will be the focus of 16th annual Literacy Symposium, hosted by UCF\u2019s College of Education and Human Performance.
