Officers and detectives from the University of Central Florida Police Department will educate students about UCF\u2019s bait bike program and help them protect their property.<\/p>\n
UCFPD owns the bait bikes, which are left around campus. The bikes are equipped with GPS trackers so that when a thief steals a bike, police are notified and know where to find them.<\/p>\n
Police will hand out \u201cThis Could Be a Bait Bike\u201d stickers from 2 to 4 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 5, in front of the Recreation and Wellness Center. The idea is that by adding a sticker to their bike, students are encouraging potential thieves to think twice.<\/p>\n
On Thursday, UCF Police also will be onsite with laptops so that students can register their bikes and other valuables with the police department at no cost to students.<\/p>\n
