{"id":64332,"date":"2015-02-12T13:11:28","date_gmt":"2015-02-12T18:11:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ucf.edu\/news\/?p=64332"},"modified":"2015-02-12T13:11:28","modified_gmt":"2015-02-12T18:11:28","slug":"power-healing-art","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ucf.edu\/news\/power-healing-art\/","title":{"rendered":"The Power of Healing Through Art"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Counseling and Psychological Services, in collaboration with School of Visual Arts and Design and Student Disability Services, is having its third annual Healing Art Exhibition, featuring the artwork of UCF students, faculty, staff and alumni.<\/p>\n<p>The UCF community is invited to attend the 2015 Healing Art Exhibition Opening Reception on February 19 from 5-7 p.m. at CAPS (Counseling Building #27). The event will include the viewing of the artwork, refreshments, live music and award announcements.<\/p>\n<p>Accepted artwork is on display at the Counseling Center through October 2015. The theme for this year\u2019s exhibit is \u201cArt out Loud: Emerging from the Shadow.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCreating artwork is very healing, and allows me to release what needs to be \u2018freed,\u2019\u201d said Judy Bragg Pardo, Student Development and Enrollment Services, and a participant in the exhibition. \u201cMy artwork is my balance in life.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>CAPS\u2019 mission is to highlight the healing power of art and creativity; create campuswide awareness of the office\u2019s programs, activities and services; reduce the stigma of mental health services; and increase inclusivity across campus.
