Learn more about UCF’s plans to build a campus in downtown Orlando and ask questions about the project during two open forums the week after Spring Break.<\/p>\n

Students are invited to an\u00a0open forum\u00a0from 2 to 3 p.m. on Wednesday, March 18, in the Student Union’s Cape Florida Ballroom (Rm 316D).<\/p>\n

Faculty and staff are invited to an\u00a0open forum\u00a0from 3 to 4 p.m. on Tuesday, March 24, in the Student Union’s Garden Key Meeting Room (Rm 221).<\/p>\n

UCF Downtown\u00a0is a multi-year venture that eventually could be home to about 13,000 UCF and\u00a0Valencia College\u00a0students.<\/p>\n

The campus, proposed on about 15 to 20 acres in Orlando\u2019s\u00a0Creative Village<\/a>, would initially build from the strengths of UCF\u2019s other academic programs in the area. UCF\u2019s\u00a0Center for Emerging Media<\/a>\u00a0and its graduate video game design and development school, the\u00a0Florida Interactive Entertainment Academy<\/a>, are across the street from the Creative Village site.<\/p>\n

UCF\u2019s proposal to the Board of Governors, which oversees the State University System of Florida, recommended first moving programs related to interactive entertainment, digital media, art and film, as well as programs from the Nicholson School of Communication. Those suggestions came from a committee made up of about 30 faculty members, administrators and staff, with input from students.<\/p>\n

Final decisions about academic programs at UCF Downtown will come later this spring.<\/p>\n

In addition to academic programs, student services, housing and parking will also be part of UCF Downtown.<\/p>\n
