Theatre UCF will host a\u00a0costume sale 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 23 just in time for Halloween with one-of-a-kind costumes seen in recent UCF productions. Wedding dresses, wigs, shoes and fabric grab bags are just some of the items that will be available in the sale.<\/p>\n
Theatre UCF did not have a costume sale last year, so this year\u2019s event will have more inventory than in past years. Most of the items are from the past two years of dance concerts. There also will be costumes from plays such as Trevor, (a love story),<\/em> and The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee<\/em>.) Some of the pieces were made by students during classes and never hit the stage.<\/p>\n The fabric grab bags are new to the sale this year. Excess fabric will be sold and may be appealing to sewers, cosplayers, and those looking to create Halloween costumes from scratch.<\/p>\n Daniel M. Jones, manager of Theatre UCF\u2019s costume shop, explains the perks of a theatrical clothing sale to the public: \u201cThe Costume Sale is a great way for the UCF community to get outside the box for their Halloween costumes —\u00a0not just have another mass-produced costume — without spending ridiculous amounts of money. We provide the materials for inspiration and creativity by offering up those items that we created so they can have another life off the stage.\u201d The sale is open to the community and the public is encouraged to attend at the small design room on the second floor of the Theatre Building in the Performing Arts Center.\u00a0Cash is preferred, but checks will be permitted. While some items, like gowns, may cost $20 or more, most items are priced under $10.<\/p>\n
