The ANCC is the largest and most prestigious nurse credentialing organization in the United States, and&nbsp;a subsidiary of the American Nurses Association.<\/p>\n<p>&#8212;<strong>Dr. Kelly Allred<\/strong>, an assistant professor in the College of Nursing, has been awarded a research grant by UCF&#8217;s Institute for Simulation and Training to study the efficacy of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ucf.edu\/modeling-simulation\/\">computer-based simulation<\/a> for pain management education.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;The Florida Medical Directors Association (FMDA) has selected DNP student&nbsp;<strong>Herma Baker<\/strong>&#8216;s poster for presentation at their upcoming Best Care Practices in the Geriatrics Continuum 2009 conference in Orlando, Fla. Her research findings are focused on primary care providers&#8217; perceptions on comfort for patients at end of life. FMDA is the official state chapter of the American Medical Directors Association and a Specialty Society of the Florida Medical Association.<\/p>\n<p>&#8212;<strong>Marcia Kent<\/strong>, a MSN Nursing Leadership and Management student, reports that the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses (AACN)&nbsp;has selected her CICU\/CCU unit for a 2009 BEACON Award, given to Intensive Care Units for excellence in critical care nursing. Kent is a nurse manager at Shands Hospital in Gainesville, Fla. They will receive the award in Nov. 2009 at the AACN&#8217;s annual conference.<\/p>\n<p>&#8212;<strong>Maria Stahl<\/strong>, an adjunct instructor in UCF&#8217;s College of Nursing, was recently honored with a Public Health Leadership Award from the Florida Association of Public Health Nurses.
