In the wake of Hurricane Michael\u2019s devastation to the Florida Panhandle and Southeast region, the UCF Student Union will be serving as the donation center for a relief drive through the weekend.<\/p>\n

Nonperishable food, water, clothes, linens or small household items will be collected and sent to communities affected by the storm. Donors can drop off items under the stairs in the atrium before 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 15. The Student Union is located at\u00a012715 Pegasus Dr.<\/p>\n

Examples of items in need include:<\/p>\n

  • Bottled water<\/li>\n
  • Canned tuna and chicken<\/li>\n
  • Canned beans\/chili<\/li>\n
  • Canned or dried fruits<\/li>\n
  • Soup<\/li>\n
  • Peanut butter and jelly<\/li>\n
  • Instant coffee<\/li>\n
  • Pasta and pasta sauce<\/li>\n
  • Soap<\/li>\n
  • Sheets\/blankets<\/li>\n
  • Manual can openers<\/li>\n
  • Disposable plates\/silverware<\/li>\n

    If you are unable to bring items to the Student Union but are still interested in making a donation, there are a number of charities you can\u00a0contribute to\u00a0that will help support relief efforts in the immediate aftermath of the storm. It is important to verify an organization\u2019s credibility before donating.<\/p>\n

    Charity Navigator, an organization that evaluates charities, has a page that includes the names of reputable charities. \u201cRelief for Hurricane Michael\u201d is listed at the top of the web page\u2019s Hot Topics tab.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
