Dr. Stephanie Florczyk is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Materials Science & Engineering at University of Central Florida (UCF). Dr. Florczyk is an expert in materials processing and characterization, cell culture, and animal studies. Her research focuses on the development of biomaterial scaffolds for tumor microenvironment and regenerative medicine applications. Her group produces 3D porous scaffolds from natural polymers and investigates the cell-material interaction of cancer cells and adult stem cells with the scaffolds. She earned a B.S. and a M.S at Alfred University in Ceramic Engineering and in Biomedical Materials Engineering Science, respectively. She earned her Ph.D. in Materials Science & Engineering at University of Washington. She completed a National Research Council Postdoctoral Fellowship at National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) prior to joining UCF. Her research is supported by NIH and Florida Department of Health. She is the author of 27 journal articles, 9 papers in proceedings, and 72 presentations.
