The Florida Senate and House reached an agreement on joint allocations and officially began the Budget Conference on Tuesday, June 3. Both Senate President Ben Albritton and House Speaker Daniel Perez released memos outlining the conference schedule, with all meetings held on a one-hour notice.
Lawmakers are expected to finalize the budget by Thursday, June 13, allowing for the constitutionally required 72-hour “cooling off” period before a vote. The Legislature is then expected to vote on the conference reports for the General Appropriations Act (GAA), the implementing bill, and conforming bills on Monday, June 16, followed by adjournment sine die.
To accommodate this timeline, both chambers adopted House Concurrent Resolution 1635 last week, formally extending the 2025 legislative session through June 18. The state’s new fiscal year begins July 1.
When budget negotiations were initially suspended, the House and Senate held differing positions on several key funding issues affecting the State University System and UCF-specific priorities. A summary of those differences can be viewed in this comparison chart.
