MAY 27: For The Pop Parlour owners and brothers, Adam and Brandon Chandler ’10, serving frozen sweets is practically in their DNA. After returning from World War II, their grandfather, Joseph, whom they called PopPop, impressed an interviewer at Rieck’s Dairy in Pittsburgh so much that the veteran was invited to his home later that day for dinner, where he met the Chandler brothers’ future grandmother. Joseph served ice cream at the dairy until it closed in the ’70s, passing on a love for popsicles and a twin ice pop mold that the Chandlers still use in their shops — one located on UCF’s main campus and another in downtown Orlando. Opened in 2013 months before Joseph’s passing, The Pop Parlour delivers to companies all over the country and recently opened another location in Frisco, Texas.
