Programming Powerhouse: UCF Hosts, Competes in the ICPC NAC

UCF placed seventh in the 2022 North American Championship of International Collegiate Programming Contest and will advance to World Finals.

In a battle of logic, strategy and mental endurance, a team of three Knights spent five hours solving complex real-world problems to secure seventh place in the 2022 North American Championship of International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC). The competition, which was hosted at UCF, pits teams from 50 elite institutions against each other for a chance to earn one of 17 spots at the World Finals. Rising above competitors from Stanford, Columbia, Harvard and Cornell, UCF Computer Programming Team Iris — which includes students Daniel West and Seba Villalobos — has secured their second chance to prove they’re world champions.

“Qualifying for World Finals not once, but twice, was my goal since I joined UCF, so I’m happy I achieved it.”
