Eligible students can apply for financial support for needs resulting from COVID-19 as part of UCF’s second distribution of federal CARES Act funds.

UCF has determined that students who successfully completed the spring term, have completed a 2019-2020 or 2020-2021 FAFSA, and meet other federal eligibility criteria are eligible for this funding. Students who previously received a CARES Act award may receive additional funding if they meet eligibility criteria and have additional expenses.

UCF received $25 million in federal aid to distribute to students who experienced financial challenges due to the disruption of campus operations due to COVID-19 in areas such as housing, food, course materials, technology, healthcare and child care. Last month, UCF disbursed $16.7 million financial relief to more than 18,500 eligible students who listed their expenses related to COVID-19 in their application for the CARES Act.

Through 11:59 p.m. July 5, students can complete an application for new or additional CARES Act funding. Funding is available to students who did not apply during the first application window and for students who would like to request support for additional expenses.

Students must click the link and log in in order to complete the application, and they will be required to list a dollar amount with supporting documentation for the categories for which they are seeking financial support.

Students also must meet federal eligibility criteria in order to be considered for funding. Criteria includes:

  • Students be degree-seeking and enrolled in the term for which they are seeking assistance
  • Students must have submitted a 2019-2020 or 2020-2021 FAFSA
  • Students must be U.S. citizens or eligible non-citizens
  • UCF Online students are not eligible
  • And other criteria

Awards will be made in mid- to late-July, and students will receive a message to their Knights email account at that time with more information. When possible, UCF will work to provide funding in the amount each applicant requested up to the maximum award available.

UCF recognizes that the disbursement of these funds is an important step in helping eligible students overcome the challenges posed by the pandemic and continue on their paths to academic and career success. We also continue to share resources to help support the record number of students who are enrolled in classes this summer on the UCF Keep Learning website.

Future updates will continue to be shared via your Knights email and on the university’s coronavirus website, which includes more details about UCF’s plan for a return to campus in the fall.
