Following guidance from the Board of Governors and in collaboration with the other State University System institutions, UCF will no longer require face coverings to be worn on our campuses. However, we will continue encouraging our campus community to wear face coverings and follow CDC guidelines.
If you forgot your face covering or want an additional one, there are some available in the vending machines around campus. You can also purchase face coverings from Rock ’Em in Orlando. For each face covering sold, $5 will go to the UCF Student Emergency Fund.
What is required of those returning to campus?
UCF strongly encourages continued following of the CDC guidelines. All students, employees and visitors at all UCF campuses are asked to monitor their symptoms using the COVID Self-Checker available online and in the UCF Mobile app. Paper versions of the questionnaire are available in English and Spanish on Human Resources’ website.
Employees who have tested positive for COVID-19 or have been in proximity to someone who has must stay home and not come to UCF.
Can a member of the UCF community on their own require someone else to wear a face covering in their classroom, office or other location on campus?
No. Under the new guidelines, no member of the UCF community is permitted to require any other member of the UCF community to wear a face covering on campus, whether in an office, classroom or other location. You may encourage others to wear face coverings, but you may not require them to do so.
Are there any exceptions? Are face coverings still required at the Student Health Center?
Yes. As a medical facility, the Health Center will still require face coverings inside the building.
Do I need to immediately return to UCF to obtain my face covering?
No. UCF has ordered enough face coverings for all students and faculty and staff members, and they will be available throughout the summer and fall semesters.
How do I obtain a UCF ID card to receive my face covering?
UCF Card Services is open for students and employees in need of a new or replacement UCF Card.
New students who have not yet received their UCF ID will receive their face covering in conjunction with distribution of their UCF Cards later this summer.
If am visiting UCF's campus, what preventative measures should I take?
UCF encourages visitors to our campuses to wear face coverings indoors, even if they are vaccinated. We also ask that visitors monitor their symptoms using the COVID Self-Checker available online, and stay home if they have tested positive for COVID-19 or have been in proximity to someone who has.
What policy should employees and students at UCF Connect campuses hosted by state colleges follow for face coverings?
Employees and students should follow the policy of their host state college when they are working at or studying on those campuses.
How can I obtain a face covering from UCF?
Cloth face coverings are being distributed at several locations on UCF’s campuses. One face covering will be assigned to each member of the UCF community, and a valid UCF ID card is required to obtain one. These or a face covering of some kind will be required at all times on campus. Find face covering distribution locations.
You can also purchase face coverings from Rock ’Em in Orlando. For each face covering sold, $5 will go to the UCF Student Emergency Fund.
How is UCF tracing and tracking cases of COVID-19?
Robust tracing of COVID-19 cases at UCF will help the university identify and contain potentially impacted populations. UCF will continue to partner with state and local health officials to regularly monitor rates of new cases. Student volunteers will partner with the Florida Department of Health as contact tracers beginning this summer and will work with faculty from the College of Medicine and College of Nursing.
How do I wash the face covering?
It is recommended that the face coverings are washed by hand with mild liquid detergent after each day’s use and then hung dry.
How do I obtain disposable masks for campus visitors?
Disposable masks will be provided to building liaisons for distribution upon request, and more information will be shared with those individuals in the coming weeks.
